Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan, 72, can do everthing that a common man can just imagine!
In his quest to perform different and dynamic roles, he has now taken up animated character for the 52-episodes TV series called Astra Force, to be telecasted on Disney Channel in India.
“I liked the idea. I gave nod to this because I was never associated with something like this. It is a great way to connect with children. Astra is a superhero who has physical superpowers. The kids will learn some lessons from this. But it is not going to be preachy,” Big B said in an interview.
Astra Force, a funny and fast-paced action-adventure series, filled with laughs and thrills, will tell the story of a mythical hero from a distant world, who was stranded on Earth millions of years ago after a space battle.
Graphic India, who is partnering with Disney Channel India for the show, said no one but Mr Bachchan could play a superhero on TV. Graphic India will be launching the character in a series of digital and print comic books available through a special Facebook comic application through Mr Bachchan’s large social media following.
“At Disney, we believe in showcasing great stories with compelling characters. It is imperative to get the local texture right for any story to resonate and emotionally connect with the viewers. With Mr Bachchan associating with Astra Force, we will be bringing an interesting facet to storytelling in the local animation space,” said Siddharth Roy Kapur, Managing Director, Disney India.
Now it remains to be seen how his animated avatar — a first time attempt by him — turns out to be. Our good wishes are with you Big B!
