The World’s Mightiest Selfie — that’s what the Forbes Magazine has called the photo in which Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Narendra Modi appears together. The selfie was taken while Modi’s 3-day tour to China. The two powerful men are seen standing shoulder-to-shoulder at the Temple of Heaven in central Beijing.
The selfie garnered 2,200 shares within two hours of Modi posting it on his Twitter account @NarendraModi and is being billed the selfie of the world’s two mightiest. Modi and Li drive economic policy in their respective countries, two of the world’s fastest-growing large economies.
PM Modi, who is in China this week to boost economic ties and discuss a persistent border dispute, is known for his ease with social media. He has a a large follower base on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Such spontaneous online presence are rare for leaders in India, where discussion of politicians’ personal lives is not so common. However, this is a welcome move that brings our famous personalities close to the general public. Kudos!
