The Chinese handset manufacturer Xiaomi launched its Mi4i smartphone priced at Rs. 12,999 in New Delhi and will go on sale from April 30. Initially, the device will be available on Flipkart, and later across all the channels including Mi website.
The phone is specially designed for the Indian market, and is launched here before other markets such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia where it will be bought during late May. Mi 4i is a very powerful smartphone and features a 5 inch HD 1080p display. It also comes with Sunlight Display, a technology which allows the phone to do dynamic tone mapping, which in turn, keeps the image quality balanced in bright sunlight. The phone is 7.8 mm thick and will be available in 5 colours — black, white, orange, light blue and pink.
The phone will face a tough competition from the existing handset manufacturers such as Samsung and Micromax that caters to the mid-market segment. But since the Indian consumer is often in search for ‘value for money’, this can be a big hit in the market.
