Actor Kiku Sharda, famous for playing ‘Palak’ in comedy TV show ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’, was arrested for mimicking Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim reportedly.
Reportedly, Kiku has been remanded to 14 days judicial custody in Kaithal, Haryana, after police produced him before the court of Nandita Kaushik, Chief Judicial Magistrate in Kaithal.
The actor was was arrested from Mumbai by the Haryana Police, allegedly for hurting the emotions of the Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s followers.
The case was registered after Sharda was accused by Dera followers for insulting their chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s role in the MSG movie by dancing with girls and flaunting liquor bottles in his comedy act.
“Kiku was booked on December 31 under section 295 A of the Indian Penal Code (outraging religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious belief). A case was registered on the complaint of one Uday Singh, the follower of Dera Sacha Sauda” Police Ofiicial
Reportedly Kiku got released after the bail was granted, but after being released from Kaithal on bail bond of Rs 1 lakh, Kiku was again detained by the Fatehabad police from Kaithal on transit warrant because of a similar case registered against him in Fatehabad by an angry follower.
The 40 -year-old actor was again released from Fatehabad, after the team completed procedural formalities. Kiku said :
“I’m a god-fearing man. It is my job to make people laugh. It wasn’t my intention to hurt anyone, Why should I want to offend anyone? I’m really, really sorry,”
