Indian government is still blushing in the Parliament over its contradictory response about the location of the underworld don as the government has once again maintained that Dawood Ibrahim continues to live in Pakistan.
Ibrahim is a “most wanted man” in India and has been charged with masterminding the 1993 Mumbai serial bombings. He was named a “global terrorist” in October 2003, and in June 2006, he was named by the US president as a “foreign narcotics trafficker”. He is accused of smuggling narcotics from Afghanistan and Thailand to the US, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa.
Kiren Rijiju, the minister of state for home, said that, “Government’s consistent stand is that he (Dawood) is in Pakistan and government of India has been providing information to Pakistan about his whereabouts and Pakistani agencies are not cooperating with Indian government. That is well known to everyone.”
The government may come up with yet ‘another’ clarification the next time but such a non-serious approach to an issue, shows the government in a poor light.
