Two high-profile electronic dance & music fests – Sunburn and Supersonic, are both taking place on 27th to 30th December in Goa, a popular area for tourists.
It is considered to be Asia’s largest music festival. The festival is an amalgamation of Music, Entertainment, Food and Shopping, and was ranked by CNN in 2009 as the 9th Best Festival in the World.
Partnership with Goa Tourism:
Sunburn has announced its strategic partnership with Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC).
Sunburn dance & music fests will now officially promote Goa, across India and the world through various Sunburn events.
GTDC will also have an on ground presence at Sunburn events across India and the world including Sunburn Goa, starting on December 2015.
The rising popularity of Sunburn since inception in 2007 has put Goa on the global tourism map with tourists coming in from all around the globe to attend this must-visit leading global EDM Fest.
Security & Alleged Terror Threat:
Goa’s minister of tourism Dilip Parulekar recently announced that festival organizers have been ordered to increase the number of security guards and metal detectors at the sites.
While not elaborating the nature of the terror threat, Parulekar told that permissions for both festivals have been suspended until organizers comply with the requests for added security.
“We want the best security in view of the IS threat,”
“The single window permission committee headed by the chief secretary, which grants permission for such events has decided to ask the organizers of the events to increase security on site.”
“The police will be there, but the organizers will also have to increase the security in view of the threat. The permissions will be granted once they comply with these conditions,”
Number of metal detectors at the EDM festival venues and sniffer dogs to keep track of possible explosive substances are also requested to be increased.
