Food-Tech Start Up “Chakki” grows stronger; gets funding from Ratan Tata

IdeaChakki, a food-tech start-up, provides digital video menu for restaurants and allows customers to gift food and beverage experience anywhere in the World. It is a completely revolutionary idea of ordering food & beverages. The company has been established in Oct 2013 by three former NDTV executives, who now target the premium restaurants in Delhi-NCR and aim to expand its operations in the country and set up its first international office in Paris.

The start up has recently raised an undisclosed amount of funds from Tata Sons Ltd’s chairman emeritus Ratan Tata – and this will enable a giant leap forth for the company. The funding will be used mainly for expansion plans along with building a team and strengthening the technology.

The founding members include Monica Narula, Noopur Tiwari and Gunjan Mehrish. Each of them are  excited for this funding infusion and commented:

“We are the world’s first video-based food-tech to introduce such a concept, which will change the face of hospitality world and lifestyle of users. Additionally, Ratan Tata’s validation of the idea will help in attracting more investors as his experience in managing and running the Taj group of hotels cannot be overlooked. Moreover, we are looking forward for our next round of funding through Enablers”.

Now they are all set for the next round of funding for which they have partnered with investment bank Enablers.

Tata continues to be an active investor in Indian as well as overseas startups this year too. His portfolio includes companies like MadRat Games, Kyazoonga, Lenskart, Niki,ai, Invictus Oncology, Moglix and others.

From the investment point of view, it is clearly not just a money making business. But rather an infusion of years of experience, business knowledge and sharp acumen – that comes with Ratan Tata coming on board.

We wish the start up Chakki and very best of luck for their future growth!
