French President Hollande’s 3-day India visit was a Huge Success

On 24th Jan 2016, French President Francois Hollande arrived at Chandigarh to inaugurate his three day visit to India.

French President was greeted by Prime Minister Modi during his visit to Chandigarh’s Rock Garden, a place housing sculptures made from industrial and household waste. Modi also accompanied President Hollande to visit the city’s other notable places like Capitol Complex, Government Museum and Art gallery.

Prime Minister Modi and the French President, together visited Government Museum & Art Gallery where they enjoyed Punjabi Cultural Dance “Bhangra” performed by the students.

Both of the leaders also addressed a CEOs forum and India-French Business Summit in Chandigarh, where they signed 16 agreements. While addressing the business summit, Modi pitched for investment in India by French companies, saying India had a lot to offer in terms of skilled workforce and as a market for French products:

“We want to work closely with France…The world has accepted India as a good investment destination. India’s talent and the manufacturing (skills) of France can achieve a lot. The trust and friendship with France is an asset for us,”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he was honoured and delighted to welcome French President Francois Hollande as the chief guest for the Republic Day celebrations.Moreover, Modi told that the proximity between India and France will prove to be an asset in near future. PM Tweeted :

Reportedly, President Hollande during his three day india visit, will be the chief guest at Republic Day Parade that will be held  on Tuesday 26 January 2016. Moreover, Hollande had also indicated that the Rafale deal, which is reported to be nearly Rs. 60,000 crore, is on the “right track” but it is unlikely to be signed during this visit.

The French President will be accorded a ceremonial reception at the forecourts of Rashtrapati Bhawan on Monday 25 January. Later, he will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Modi at the Hyderabad House reportedly.
