Here’s how the ‘Lifestyle Changes’ by Virat Kohli makes him Class-apart!

“Being fit is not just related to the physical aspect of my game, it also helps me become mentally strong and enables a better decision making. Coming from a Punjabi family, even I have grown up on butter laid paranthas but my current lifestyle is my choice in the direction of becoming a World Class Player”, proudly says the ace cricketer Virat Kohli.

Being the most googled Indian athlete, India’s Test skipper Virat Kohli, has been associated with a gym chain, an energy drink, a sports tech start-up etc. He is putting every effort on his prime fitness as well as for the next generation.

“After IPL 2012, I realised that I needed to make changes in my physical condition and my fitness levels. I did not want to be an average player. I understood that If I had to be the best in the world, I needed to be as fit as I possibly can and that was a lifestyle choice.”

Here is a summary of his Lifestyle changes:

  • Eat Fresh: He is a fan of home cooked meals and suggests everyone to avoid eating out when you can easily cook at home. He emphasizes on foods filled with protein (the building blocks of our muscles) and contains fewer amounts of fats.

Virat also seems to be the fan of the “avoid junk food” propaganda as he has been seen consuming organic wheat crackers over fried chips.

  • Mineral Water: He also seems to be addicted to drinking only the purest form of water, i.e., mineral water. He has been seen drinking only mineral water on the tours which adds in to the fact that he is very serious about what he consumes.
  • Gymming 5 days a week: Virat hits the gym at least 5 times a week and he does not lets his hectic schedule come in b/w this routine. Self discipline is what is takes to be a man of muscles 😉

  • Combination of cardio and weights:  Kohli also seems focused enough to try on core exercises like cardio and heavy weights and it helps him develop muscles in a precise manner

These are the core aspects of his fitness routine, that has enabled him to become from ‘the good’ to ‘the great’.

“I have never been as fit as I am today. It has worked beautifully for me. Even in off time, I watch what I eat. In fact, I get more excited about fitness, feeling good, being healthy than anything else. That is probably because my body realises that fitness is what I would need after my professional career is done,” Kohli said.
