India stuns Australia in 2nd T20; Dominates Series 2-0

Once again, India clinched the T20 series by defeating the host ‘Australia’ in 2nd T20 by 27 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium. India’s top order batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma again overpowered the vicious Australian bowling attack, while the spinners yet again came out strongly to help India dominate the second T20 match.

Indian opening duo, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit again gave the team an brilliant start, playing some incredible shots all over the ground and set the stage for another mammoth total. India lost their first wicket as Dhawan (42 runs in 32 balls) was dismissed in 11th over by Maxwell when the teams total was 97 runs.

However, Virat Kohli once again played splendid innings, making things worse for the Aussies as he scored fiery 59 runs in just 33 balls with 7 fours and 1 huge six. Both Kohli and Rohit was thrashing Australian bowlers all over the MCG, when Rohit unfortunately got run out for 60 runs as he was looking unstoppable at a moment.

Dhoni, who walked in at number four, scoring 14 runs from eight balls as India set the huge target of 184 runs for the hosts.

Australian batsmen, started out pretty well as the openers Aaron Finch (74 runs) and Shaun Marsh (23 runs) were in full swing, scoring at a decent pace and as they put on the 90 plus runs in only 9 overs.  However, Indian spinners picked up some quick wickets and put India back into the game.

Aaron Finch, who was the top scorer for the Aussies, hit 8 fours and 2 massive sixes in his aggressive knock before he was run out trying to steal a quick single.

Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah bowled brilliantly as both picked up 2 wickets each as the Aussies could only manage 157-8 in their 20 overs.

Virat Kohli was awarded Man of the Match for the second time in the row as India thumped Australia by 27 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

The third and final T20 match of the series will be played at Sydney on Sunday.
