India’s Bravehearts Honoured at 68th National Army Day

On Thursday 15th January 2016, The ‘Sapta Shakti Command Army Day’ inauguration ceremony took place – under the patronage of the Hisar division – on the special occasion of the 68th Army Day.

Reportedly, 17 officers, junior commissioned officers and soldiers including one war widow were presented with bravery and other distinguished awards by Lieutenant General A K Sahni, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, South Western Command. Many officers and other army personnel from all parts of the country, and from all denominations of the society were honored at the national Army day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid homage to the determined courage and valour of the army bravehearts of the nation. Pm Modi Tweeted:

Moreover, President Pranab Mukherjee also greeted the soldiers, officers, ex-Servicemen and their families on the occasion of the National Army Day. He said :

“The Indian Army exemplifies professionalism, selfless commitment and unparalleled bravery. It continues to defend our borders across some of the most challenging terrains in the world,”

“I pay my respect to our brave martyrs, who have made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. The nation is indebted to them and their families,”

“I wish to place on record my deepest appreciation for the Indian Army’s contribution to nation building and the commitment of our soldiers to the service of the nation. I am confident that in keeping with its glorious traditions, the Indian Army will continue to do the nation proud.”

Army Day is celebrated on 15 January annually . The day is celebrated in the form of parades and other military shows in the national capital New Delhi as well as all headquarters.
