Don’t be a square!
In the five years that Instagram has existed, it has changed the way that people take photos. It’s the fastest growing app in the world, and a favorite among social-media enthusiasts. However, the app created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger had always favored square-shaped photos.
Well as of today, the popular photo-sharing app has announced that it will have native support for landscape and portrait photos.
That’s right, all you photographers out there. No longer will you have to crop, compress, and cut up your photos just to share it online. Instagram now allows you to share those pictures in all of their landscape/portrait splendor.
Those who prefer to crop their images still have that option, but those who want to use landscape or portrait photos now have that option, making the app much more flexible for their photography loving fans. As well, those who use Instagram to capture media can still only do so in the square format, so if you want to get some of that landscape/portrait action into your feed, you’ll have to take those photos elsewhere.
