In a shocking event, an Islamic State militant publicly executed his mother in front of a post office in the northern Syrian city of Raqqa reportedly.
Syrian activist group RIBBS (Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently), told about the incident that took place recently this week, a 21 year old jihadi Ali Saqr al-Qasem shot his mother Lena (age 46), in the head with an assault rifle in front of a large crowd after she tried to persuade him to leave the extremist group, accusing her of apostasy.
This was reported to be the latest act in a chain of brutal and bizarre killings that Islamic State practices and usually publicizes, apparently, for reducing dissent and attracting more recruits.
According to sources, this is not the first time when Islamic State has ordained the killing of a parent of one of its own members.
Reportedly, last year, a Lebanese man trying to bring back his son and 3 other members from Raqqa (an ISIS member) was also detained and killed by the son.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Islamic State has ordered the killing of more than 2,000 people convicting them for wide-range of capital crimes, including homosexuality, adultery and “betraying Muslims”.
