India has a remarkable ‘Metro rail network’and after the huge success in Metro cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru, the metro rail is on its way to the next tier of cities. The proposal for the metro projects in Kanpur, Varanasi, Agra and Meerut would be submitted to the government in about four months, to get a final go ahead.
The Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu emphasized that the government wants to focus on expanding metro network across the country. He added:
“The idea is to have network of metro across the country. We need to have less private and more public transport and that is the need of the hour. We will be focusing on expanding metro throughout the country. PM wants transformation of India and we must have a strong economy, smart solutions, smart leadership.”
This move towards increasing public transportation options is a great news for the country. In addition, it will also create an abundance of investment and employment opportunities in the sector.
