Kohli, with reigns in his hands of this supremely talented bunch of cricketers, has ushered in a completely unknown territory few days back! It was the time when they had an opportunity of double delight in Carribean Islands : the Indian Cricket Team won series in Carribean with the two test wins and still one more Test Match left, in a four match series.
Virat’s Boys have done exceptionally well to achieve this unique feat by raising their game at crucial junctures during this series. After last drawn test our team was looking a little jaded at the end but like thorough professionals, they left this disappointment there itself and come to this test match with a lot more purpose and will to conquer the test and the series.
On first day in the morning they lost the toss and asked to bat on lively St. Lucia track which was very well used by the west Indian bowlers to cut short their task and putting them in precarious situation at 126/5. This was enough for ringing alarm bells in Indian dressing room, from here onwards Ravichandran Ashwin and Wridhimaan Saga scripted a major turnaround by posting a mammoth partnership with commendable centuries to revive the sagging fortunes of their team.
The all-round abilities of Ashwin were on display again which has provided a much required depth to our lower order, it also gives our skipper the liberty of playing with five bowlers that is very much-needed to get those twenty wickets in a test match.
Wridhimaan Saha’s attacking century showed that he is trying to fill the vacuum left by Great M S Dhoni. This courageous display of skillful batting takes India to the safety with a score of . In the last session of second day West Indies put up a solid reply by reaching to the score of 107/1 by losing the wicket of Johnson by direct hit of K L Rahul.
Rain washed out the third day of this interesting test match but there were lot more surprises in store for the fourth day which brings back the life to this match. Five wicket haul of Bhuvaneshwar kumar proved yet again his credentials as Sultan of swing.
Bhuvaneshwar Kumar got back to his old ways where outsmarting Batsmen is no big task for him. West Indies team were reduced to the Paltry score of 225. By giving India a healthy lead of 128 runs. West Indian team just managed the score of 108 in their second innings.
Indian team sensed the opportunity and pressed for test match and series win with full throttle, they started playing aggressively and declared at 217/7. With a total of 345 on board near about 90 overs left in last day Indian bowlers started this uphill task to get ten wickets in less than a day.
Bhuvaneshwar kumar struck early in the second innings and from there onwards Mohammad Shami took the baton and every other bowler chipped in, which cut out the task of removal of all carribean batsmen in the second innings. It was a wonderful team effort with efforts from each and every member of the team contributing at the right time and right place leaving nothing much for carribean team.
Wishing & hoping another clinical performance from this young Indian side in last match of the series which could also spring another surprise as number one test side by keeping my fingers crossed.
