‘Love your work’, says Byju Raveendran, founder of an Edu StartUp

Byjus, an education technology start up which was conceptualized and turned into reality by Byju Raveendran. He says that he has been a teacher by choice but entrepreneur by chance – he just did and consistently did what he loved!

Started in 2008 with only 100 students in a single batch for a single course for CAT, today his classes by name of Byjus – are attended by over 11000 students in over 70 batches, with each batch having anywhere from 200 to 1200 students for multiple courses like CAT, IITJEE, UPSC and SAT.

He started teaching because he knew how to crack the much-feared CAT exam. The trick, according to the 35-year-old, is simple — learn the how and why of the question. “The idea is to make learning contextual and visual. It is important to show the how to learn.”

His journey has been really amazing from a small town Azhikode in Kerala to his start up initiative that has now been backed by $75 million (about Rs 500 crore) in funding from Sequoia Capital and Belgium-based Sofina.

He is backed by an incredible team of teachers:

They bring the teaching to life. They make the whole Learning process simple through the magic they create with world- class technology. A team that is academically brilliant and superbly creative, they bring the world of education and technology together, beautifully, to ensure that the experience of learning is impactful, simple and forever

Here is a sneak peak into this innovative way of teaching:
