Delhi has become quite a happening place on the World map. The infrastructure and the connectivity with Metro line has come up well; even the upcoming high street markets and mall culture gives a true metropolitan experience. And now it is, the opening of the ‘Madame Tussauds’ in the capital region next year. Sounds all so exciting!
This opening will mark the India-UK Year of Culture celebrations in 2017, and will coincide with 70th anniversary of India’s Independence. The museum will feature many Bollywood personalities, cricket celebs, icons from other sports as well as nation’s leaders.
The attraction, which has recently decided to add Prime Minister Narendra Modi to its collection of wax celebrities, will spend £50 million in the next 10 years on India, according to Alex Cameron, marketing manager for Madame Tussauds.
“Madame Tussauds Delhi is planned to be the first Merlin attraction to open in India, and the aim is to coincide its opening with next year’s Independence celebrations,” Mr. Cameron announced.
A wax figure takes four months to create and costs £1,50,000 each. Four wax images of Mr. Modi have been created which are to be installed in London, Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok.
So for those who couldn’t make it to this Wax Museum abroad; they just have to wait for a few more months to experience it in the capital itself.
