Massive fire engulfed a 63-storey luxury “Address Downtown” Dubai hotel, located near the Burj Khalifa tower, on the New Year’s Eve.
Dubai authorities are currently investigating the cause of the blaze, which is said to have started on the 20th floor of the building.
The fire broke out at about 21:30 local time (17:30 GMT) and appeared to engulf much of the five-star hotel within 10 minutes.
An eyewitness told sources:
“All of a sudden, we saw this huge black plume of black smoke coming between the Khalifa Tower and the hotel.
“The flames burst out really big and before we knew it, the whole of the Address Hotel was covered in orange flames.”
Four teams of firefighters battled the blaze for hours before taking control on the situation.
Dubai government also tweeted about the incident in which 15 people suffered injuries and one hear attack case was reported.

Anita Williams, an Irish singer , who was performing at the same hotel told sources :
“We left everything. There was debris falling down. the fire just shot up through the entire hotel.
“Everybody was screaming, everybody was running… I thought: ‘This is a film’.”
While the blaze was engulfing 5 star Dubai hotel, a fireworks show went ahead at the Burj Khalifa tower nearby, the world’s tallest building and an iconic symbol of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Dubai government officials told sources that alternative accommodation would be offered to evacuated guests.
