Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to flag off the new train Mahamana superfast express from Dreka ground on his visit to Varanasi on January 22nd, 2016.
The train has been named Mahamana Express after Mahamana Madan Mohan Malviya, the founder of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and it has been equipped with improved facilities and conveniences in both AC and Sleeper coaches like LED screens, controlled discharged water tap, Bio-toilets, exhaust fans, snack tables for side berth passengers.
The Mahamana superfast express will run between Varanasi and Delhi via Lucknow, three times a week and will cover the 800 km distance in less than 14 hours.
Moreover, the Railways administrations have recently proposed to increase the fare of the Mahamana Express by 15 per cent.
“Since the facilities and other amenities are substantially improved in the AC and Sleeper coaches in the train at an increased cost, we have proposed to hike the fare by 15 per cent more from the existing fare for the new service” Railway Ministry official
According to railways ministry, the launch of the new superfast Mahamana Express is a major step towards providing better amenities to passengers.
All coaches of the new superfast train have been refurbished at the “Carriage Rehabilitation Workshop” in Bhopal reportedly.
