Reportedly, The California-based on-demand streaming service Netflix, may launch in India as early as next week.
Netflix is expected to make the formal announcement in the same regard at the upcoming Consumer Electronic Show (CES 2016) to be held in Las Vegas next week.
According to sources, the popular video-streaming giant that is moving to other countries worldwide wants to take advantage of high-speed 4G services, that will replace existing 3G connections.
Currently, the top contenders to have a substantial 4G footprint in India are Bharti Airtel. Moreover, Reliance Industries Limited is another strong contender, which has recently has announced its Jio 4G services in the country but it is only available to its employees currently.
Netflix is one of the world’s largest video streaming company with more than 69 million subscribers worldwide as of October, 2015.
Its current subscription cost for a month is some $8.99 in the US, Canada and Latin America which roughly translates to 600 Rs .
Recently on 9th September 2015, Netflix announced that it would be continuing its expansion into Asia by entering in Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan in early 2016.
