From the long hailing Kapoor Khandaan, there is a new member exploring the talent in their genes. Samaira Kapoor, great granddaughter of the Showman of Hindi Film Industry Raj Kapoor made a short film titled ‘Be Happy’ which was selected for screening at ongoing 19th International Children Film Festival, Hyderabad.
The story of the film is about a girl who goes out for shopping and feels jealous of other children who buy expensive things which she cannot afford. Later, when a child tries to snatch her jacket, she realises someone else was feeling jealous of her as well.
The 10 year old girl is endowed with the traits of direction and acting, also she has worked as a cinematographer for the movie as well.
“She enjoys editing and did a good job in the movie. She has also acted in it. She was only eight when the film was shot, but she was involved in various departments like scripting and editing,” said the proud mother Karisma.
Also Kareena Kapoor Khan, aunt of the budding star, came out as the keynote speaker at the event. In the interview to Mumbai Mirror, the begum said:
“I’m very proud of my niece. She has the Kapoor filmmaking genes in her. We might just have the first female director in the family one day.”
