Teen sensation Max Verstappen created a flutter in F1 circuit by winning the Spanish Grand Prix by beating his closest rival legendary Kimi Raikkonen. This was the amazing duel between the oldest (36 years)and youngest (18 years) drivers of race.
Max Verstappen the debutante from Red bull made complete use of opportunity that had arisen in the first lap where both Mercedes cars crashed into each other and eliminated from the race. This was a bit of a breather for this young driver, he sensed the window of opportunity and still kept his nerves to get passed the experienced Kimi Raikkonen and lightening fast Sebastian Vettel.
Raikkonen was pushing the Verstappen from the 44th to 66th lap with just a gap of more than a second, it was measured and controlled driving of the young bloke which took him home. This also made the race more interesting and edgy in the absence of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes.
Verstappen not only won the race by beating Kimi Raikkonen but also replacing Sebastian Vettel as youngest winning Grand Prix driver at the age of 18 years at 2016 Spanish Grand Prix. Vettel was the previous record holder of this wonderful distinction of youngest Grand Prix winning driver at 21 years 73 days at 2008 Italian Grand Prix.
Kimi Raikkonen was a little disappointed after getting behind the Young Verstappen by just a whisker. He also said that,
“When it comes to youngest and oldest, it happens to be like that, I raced against his father.[laughs] That actually sounds very scary, In F1 That’s how it goes.”
The Nine times Moto GP winner was also impressed by the heroics of this dynamic young F1 driver and tweeted:
“To win straight away, in my first race, it’s an amazing feeling,” said Max Verstappen after winning the Spanish Grand Prix.
The calm temperament and clean and neat driving skills of this driver put all other champions of Formula One circuit to test in days to come. A young bright star has arrived on the horizon of F1 circuit with a bang.
