Olympics are not just a sporting extravaganza but it is much more beyond that, It is the spirit of the games which is primary rest of the things are secondary in the nature. It is not about winning only, competing with complete dedication is more important than anything else.
Few days back the cupboard of our Indian olympic contingent was absolutely bare nothing much to show in terms of Medals but there was no dearth of efforts from our athletes like Dipa Karmakar, Abhinav Bindra, K.Srikanth and many more performers who put their souls in their games but were a little unlucky to miss out on Medals.
Sakshi Malik did it for India with her bronze in wrestling. It was more special in the sense that it was first ever medal for a woman from India in the Olympics Wrestling Arena.
Just after Sakshi did it for India next in line is P V Sindhu, the brightest emerging star on the horizon of Women’s Badminton Circuit created a sense of deja vu by reaching in the finals of women’s singles badminton. She made it to the finals by beating number two Player Okuhara from Japan with absolute attacking and dominant game.
Sindhu is also first ever women’s player from India to enter into the finals of Women’s Singles. Now she was in front of number one player in the world Caroline Marin from Spain..
The first game of the match was really exciting and close, Initially Marin was leading but Sindhu started closing the gap after mid game and on 16th point of the game she played on of the longest rallies of the match. Sindhu was trying to match stroke by stroke with Marin by levelling her score at Nineteen All (19-19), eventually finishing the game at 21-19 to take the lead in the finals.
Caroline suddenly upped the ante in the second game of the match by playing extremely aggressive game which completely upset the young P V Sindhu. She also tried very hard to match Caroline in the third and Final game of the match but experience of Caroline Marin has helped her to keep her nerves in the end to claim the Gold Medal in a closely contested game.
However the grit, determination and agility of P V Sindhu was even more laudable because She not only won the silver medal but also millions of hearts with her noteworthy performance in the Olympics in spite of her ranking was outside top ten.
