PM Narendra Modi Leaves for Russia Visit

Recently, PM Narendra Modi has expressed his immense faith that his visit to Russia would strengthen the economic cooperation , energy and security spheres.
“Today I will commence my visit to Russia, my first bilateral visit after we formed the Government. I am very optimistic about the outcome of this visit,” Modi said.
“My visit will deepen the cooperation between India and Russia in the economic, energy and security spheres.”
“We also want to increase cooperation in science and technology, mining among other sectors”

Ahead of his visit to Russia which is part of the annual summit talks with President Vladimir Putin, PM Modi called the country India’s most valued  friend  while adding that the considerable interest shown by Russian citizens in Indian culture makes the relationship between the two nations stronger.

“Russia remains one of India’s most valued friends in the world,”
“I am certain that this visit will substantially take forward the already strong people to people ties between our nations,”
In an interview to Russian news agency, PM Modi drew parallels between his and President Putin’s political journey and his feelings regarding the visit.
“He took over in 2000, I took over in 2001. And in 2001, I visited as a member of the prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s delegation, in capacity of a chief minister. So that was my first meeting.”
“When I go to Russia, there is a thought in my mind that I have delayed the visit a bit.”
“Secondly, I am hesitating a bit. But I am filled with enthusiasm that I’m going to a friend’s house. And visit a friend, the feeling of oneness, the emotions, I am feeling it.”
“The relations between India and Russia are linked together through the water, land and sky.”

Schedule regarding PM Modi’s Russia Visit :

  • Reportedly, on Wednesday 23rd December’s evening, Russian President Vladimir Putin will host a dinner for PM Modi in Moscow.
  • On Thursday 24th December the two leaders will hold the meeting and are expected to sign key agreements on defense and nuclear energy.
  • On his Russia visit, PM Modi will visit National Crisis Management Center and get an overview of its functioning.
  • On Thursday, PM Modi will also address about 3,000 members of the Indian community at Expocentre in Moscow.
