Salman Khan in the court: Signs bond, furnishes personal surety and seeks permission to travel abroad

Bollywood actor Salman Khan made a brief appearance before the registrar of the sessions court on May 20, 2015 and signed a bond, as directed by the sessions court, which had convicted him under culpable homicide a fortnight ago.

Actor’s manager, Reshma Shetty, also appeared in the court and signed as the personal surety in relation to his involvement in the hit-and-run case.

Explaining the need for a personal surety, his lawyer said, “the court generally directs the accused to furnish such a bond. In circumstances when the accused is absconding or fails to appear in court, the personal surety person is held accountable for the accused and takes it upon himself to ensure the accused’s presence.”

The actor has urged the Bombay High Court for permission to travel to Dubai for a show later this month. His application says that he wants to travel to Dubai for a show on May 29. A vacation bench of the High Court is likely to hear the matter next week.
