The No.1-ranked team in the world, Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis carried the dominance of the previous year into the new season by winning their 10th WTA Brisbane trophy at Queensland Tennis Centre, Brisbane on Friday 8 January 2016.
Indo-Swiss pair took around merely 70 minutes to win the match beating German wildcards Angelique Kerber and Andrea Petkovic 7-5, 6-1 at the doubles final which is duo’s 26th consecutive match victory.
Mirza & Hingis duo won the the first tough set, 7-5 in 43 minutes with many breaks of services but they romped to an easy second set win over German duo by 6-1 in 27 minutes.
It is reported to be the longest winning streak since Italians Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci’s 25 in a row dominance in year 2012. Sara and Roberta had won five consecutive titles in a row. Sania and Hingis pair is now to victories behind Gigi Fernandez and Natasha Zvereva record tally of 28 wins, which was achieved in 1994.

Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis have won six consecutive titles – the US Open, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Beijing, the WTA Finals and now Brisbane.
