It’s SHOCKING that a gang working under the cover of an unregistered NGO – based in Sector 16 B of Dwarka, Delhi – has been involved in an inter-state child trafficking.
The police acted on a complaint of Director of Women and Child Development Department. It was alleged that the NGO was involved in illegal sale of children, mostly newborns, DCP (South West) RA Sanjeev said.
A decoy couple were sent to the NGO, which had offered a male child on payment of Rs 4.20 lakh. The couple also paid a registration fee of Rs 8,000. They were offered proper notorised documents of adoption and birth certificate of the child, showing them as their natural parents by NGO representative, identified as one Vinod Kumar, the officer said. The decoy couple was later told that two children, a newborn and one about two years old, were available but the price was raised to Rs 5.5 lakh, which they agreed to pay.
On getting the signal from the couple, police moved into the NGO office and arrested Vinod Kumar, Shikha Choudhary and Anil Pandey.
The trio promoted their ‘adoption service’ openly, even advertizing with handbills at traffic signals. People could log onto their website or visit their office to register. They even arranged for babies meeting the preferences of their prospective clients. But what the 30-odd couples who fell for the promises made by the Dwarka-based ‘NGO’ weren’t told was that their babies had been stolen at birth from hospitals and nursing homes across the NCR.
They usually charged Rs 4.5 lakh for a girl and Rs 5.5 lakh for a boy, but women who refused to get hospitalized had to pay more and were given older babies. Their fake adoption papers bore the stamp of Central Adoption Resource Authority. Some lawyers from Tis Hazari and Karkardooma courts helped clear legal hurdles.
It makes me wonder what kind of a mindset do such people possess and how can they live in peace by stealing and selling stolen babies. Absolutely pervert and shameful act!!
