Did you Folks ever heard the term “Celebrity Worship Syndrome” or “CWS”?: Well, It is an obsessive-addictive disorder in which a person becomes overly involved with the details of a celebrity’s personal life. There is a fine line between admiration and obsession, and when one starts to delve into ‘CWS’ territory, it can only end badly!
Nowadays, as we’re living in the media age, it’s easy to get wrapped in the lives of the rich and famous, as we feel like get to know them personally through their music, movies, and talk show appearances. But we often forget that working in the entertainment industry is a job just like any other, and our favorite celebrities really are just as normal and ordinary as you and anybody else.
It’s awesome to admire what celebs do and support their art, and it’s even perfectly normal to have that occasional romantic fantasy, but it is NOT okay to stalk and harass a celebrity to try and make that fantasy a reality. When you start to delude yourself into thinking that by imposing yourself on a celebrity, you’ll eventually win them over, then Houston; we have a problem!
Jennifer Aniston is definitely not going to think it’s admirable when you stalk her down halfway across the country and Drake isn’t going to love you because you got his stage name tattooed on your face. There is nothing worse than your favorite celebrity remembering you for the wrong reasons and trust us, you don’t want to end up being the laughing stock in their future autobiography!
Maybe take the time to write them a nice old-fashioned fan letter expressing your sentiments, or give them a decent compliment if you’re lucky enough to meet them in person, and they’ll never forget how calm, collected and charming you were! It’s far more worth it to be remembered as the cool fan than the crazy one!
