On Sunday 10 January, a family of three members was found murdered in their flat in the Old Rajender Nagar area of New Delhi.
“A triple murder has taken place in which Sanjay, his wife and their son have been strangulated. We are looking for the reason behind the murder.
“There is a possibility that they were murdered last evening and the information was received today morning. The house was ransacked so we are taking this angle into consideration,” S K Gautam, joint commissioner of police (Central Range)
Reportedly, the two bodies of 48-year old woman Jyoti and her son Pawan (age 26) were found in their third floor flat in Rajender Nagar area. A third body of the woman’s husband,Sanjay was later discovered in a cupboard.
Though the police are still investigating and the accused are yet to be identified, the police haven’t ruled out possibility of property dispute as a motive behind the incident, a police official told sources.
Moreover, preliminary investigation by Delhi police suggests that someone known to the family may be involved.
“the matter came to light around 8.50 am whenthe bodies of Jyoti and Pawan was discovered by the domestic help of the family entered the apartment on the third floor of a building and raised an alarm, following which the police was informed”
According to sources, police team rushed to the crime spot and registered a case of murder. The police was suspecting Sanjay as the killer as his body was yet to be found, but later, the crime team found his body stuffed inside the closet.
Reportedly, Sanjay was a government official and also dealt in properties.
A long term property dispute with a someone known to family is suspected by the police, Although,these details are yet to be verified.
