On January 4th, 2016, famous Television actress Pratyusha Banerjee of ‘Balika Vadhu‘ fame, filed an FIR, alleging 8 people including three policemen barged into her home & misbehaved with her.
In her complaint, Pratyusha stated that eight people rushed into her residence in Kandivali with three of them identified themselves as cops and asked for her friend, actor Rahul Raj Singh. When she told them that Rahul was not at home, they forcefully tried to barge inside. She told sources:
“I was home with my mother when eight people entered my home and asked for Rahul Raj Singh. I said he doesn’t stay here, this is my house but they said I’m lying and started barging into my house. When I tried to shut my door, they actually started pushing the door on me and my mother,”
“I’m extremely upset with whatever happened last evening. If this is how policemen are going to behave, then what to do? I have filed an FIR against eight men, of whom three are policemen.”
“They entered my house, pushed my door, they were misbehaving with me and were so rude. It took me three hours to convince the police to file the FIR since police themselves were also involved in it. Today, I am going to meet the (area) DCP,”
Pratyusha Banerjee, told sources that cops refused to register her complaint for hours, she told :
“The cops refused to register my complaint, as it might incriminate one of their own. I was at the police station for over three hours. Later, Dolly Bindra, corporator Geeta Yadav and municipal corporator Sheetal Mhatre came to my aid, and only then the DCP came to the station, and the complaint was registered,”
“It took me three hours to convince them about my case, and another three for the complaint to be noted. It was a harrowing experience. If anyone can barge into anyone’s house claiming to be a cop, how do you guard yourself?”
The police however, have refuted the actress’ claims and denied any misbehavior with Pratyusha by personnel. Police official stated that there were only two policemen who went to Pratyusha’s house. The policemen were accompanying the group on Amit Dalvi’s request and one of them was the security supervisor of the society.
“Her mother opened the door slightly and told them that Rahul Singh wasn’t home. The policemen asked her to send Rahul Singh over to the Kandivali police station once he reached home as he had beaten up the recovery agent. Pratyusha too agreed to it and soon after that, all the four left the place,” said Mukund Pawar, senior police inspector.
Apparently, it’s all started with a car loan that Pratyusha Banerjee ‘s boyfriend, Rahul Raj Singh had taken from a bank and had been not paying his dues on time.
Reportedly when a car recovery agent, Amit Dalvi, approached the actress’ house on December 31, to collect a monthly instalment he was beaten up by Rahul Singh, following which, he registered a non-cognizable complaint against Rahul.
“On the night of December 31, the bank had sent a recovery agent to my place for a Rs.5,000 EMI for the month of December without even informing us. The man had come drunk and was not ready to leave even after we gave the money. So, Rahul took matters in hand and sent him out of the house.
“Last night, they again came to my house. I told them Rahul does not live here and that’s when all this happened,” Pratyusha told sources.
Meanwhile, the police is continuing their inquiry on the case.
