A Pakistani fan of the Indian batsman Virat Kohli was arrested for hoisting the Indian flag atop his home’s rooftop in Punjab Province of Pakistan.
As per sources, Umar Draz, Kohli’s die hard fan from Okara district of Punjab province (around 200 km from Lahore), was rejoicing every moment of the recent T20 held between India and Australia, in which his favorite batsman Virat Kohli, was thrashing the Aussies all over the ground in Adelaide Oval on India’s Republic Day. He was later arrested on a complaint that he hoisted the Indian flag on the rooftop of his residences.
An Police official, Muhammad Jamil told :
“We raided the house of Umar Draz and seized the Indian flag from his roof-top.”
Moreover, as per reports poster size photographs of Kohli were also pasted on the walls of his house. Police official also added that they have arrested Umar Draz and registered a case under the ‘Maintenance of Public Order’.
Reportedly, Draz was presented in court the same day and was remanded into police custody.
Draz turned out to be a big fan of India’s top order batsman Virat Kohli, as he told sources that he had no idea that he’d committed a crime and urged authorities to pardon him. Draz said he should be seen as “an Indian cricketer’s fan and not as a spy”:
“I am a big fan of Virat Kohli. I support the Indian team because of Kohli. Hoisting of Indian flag on the rooftop of house only shows my love for the Indian cricketer,”
