Warner Single-handedly Powers ‘Sunrisers Hyderabad’ to Final!

Big matches are the tailor-made occasions for big players to show their mettle, and stamp their authority on the field. This is what was witnessed in Delhi tonight. Warner took charge of SRH single-handedly and score a mighty 93 to power his team to Final of IPL 2016. They are the second finalist after RCB, SRH also played consistent and terrific cricket throughout the tournament, today was no exception.

Firstly they bowled superbly and Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck early by removing Eklavya Dwivedi at the score of just 7 runs. Trent boult cleaned Suresh Raina by getting him Leg Before Wicket(LBW) at the score of 19 runs only. Brendon McCullum played a small but substantial innings of 32 runs and tried to resurrect the innings.

SRH were applying pressure relentlessly and got Dinesh Karthik run out. McCullum also succumbed to Bipul Sharma and team was in tatters at 81-4. Dwayne Smith was next to follow at the score of 83 to make matters worse for Gujarat Lions.

From there onwards Aaron Finch showed why he has been regarded as one of the best T20 players. Finch scored a quick-fire 50 of 32 balls. Some responsible batting by Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo helped Gujarat Lions to reach the respectable total of 162 for 7 in the end.

SRH were always in the hunt to go for this small but competitive total but their top order barring David Warner made the complete mess of it. They frittered away all the advantage they have gained while bowling and fielding superbly in the first half of the match. They frequently lost the wickets of Shikhar Dhawan, Henriques, Yuvraj and Deepak Hooda one by one and put their team at desperate situation, making the feeble scoreline of 84 for 5.

It was looking as if David Warner was playing at some other surface by continuously hitting boundaries at will and carrying his team along with himself. After wicket of Naman Ojha at 117 for 6, he got the most unexpected support from Bipul Sharma and they reached their target of 163 in 19.2 overs.

David Warner’s 93 was studded with 11 fours and 3 sixes helped his team to cross the finishing line. Warner’s Herculean effort tonight has taken his team to the final of IPL 2016. Now they are the second finalist after winning Qualifier 2 but they have to play out of their skins in the Final against RCB and to challenge the team of the tournament.
